Week 2

This week I've been mainly focusing on how to optimise my work ethic and which hours are the best for me. Last year was a bit of an unorganized mess so I'm trying to add as much structure into everything I academically do. I'm constantly sketching up lists to ensure I can't forget any work, and I dedicate certain days to certain modules, and strictly sticking to my allocated work hours, almost treating it as a real job. I eventually came to the conclusion that a standard nine to five day was the best way to be able to dedicate enough motivation to my work and stay on top of it, and be able to relax and not to constantly burn out like last year. There were a few days this year I tried to cram more work into the day which resulted in all nighters and, it turned out I actually got less work done then I did just working a standard 9 to five day.
but so far so good, I seem to be completely on track with my work (ahead in some respects), and I just feel stupid that I didn't take this approach last year, I no long have constant panic thinking about overdue work whilst inconstantly putting it off and procrastinating, now I can afford to have time to myself, a social life, and actually enjoy my projects instead of fearing them.
This week I got round to finishing the composition document and ordered some books on the method. As I came from more of a media background I don't have a great knowledge on the technicalities of art, and never knew how interesting and complex some of its processes can be. Compositing has made me approach art, photography, and design in a different way, either it be the way that they artist can dictate the way your eye takes its path around the canvas or how every element needs balance to keep the piece feeling right. obviously my understanding at this moment is quite poor, but I'm going to read the books I've ordered and talk about it with more of an understanding and see how I can incorporate it in to my work.
Other than that, my primary focus was to model this week and keep on top of group work. Last year I let my team down on the village project by not maintaining contact or meeting any of the deadlines, so in order to ensure this doesn't happen again I'm over compensating by working 110% and not slacking at all. After working together on the whitebox last week, trying to figure out the proportions and sizes of the room, we received our asset list and our whole group managed to complete all of their models within the week, with four weeks left all we have left is to do is unwrap (which most of us have done), texture and work in engine, so as a whole, the group is feeling pretty positive about
meeting the deadline with a decent piece of work.
