we've just been tasked with sentry gun project, which I've been excited about tackling since last year and have a good general grasp of different directions I may want to take it in. this is the first project in which we use high poly models to bake normal maps which I've never done before, until the start of the year I had only worked with diffuse maps and low poly models so it's going to be interesting to have the creative freedom that high poly models have to offer.
I've been working on my planning and concept this week and was able to finish my mood boards and silhouettes and already I'm feeling positive on how my final product will turn out. My main inspirations are from the interior set designs from the alien films and the computer consoles found within the fallout games, I've blended these two themes together to create a computer console/sentry turret set within 1970s dystopian England. The world in which I want my assets to populate is that of games such as half life two and dishonored, with a mix of bland English culture, a mood in which could be found in TV series such as the office, and designs such as English speed cameras.
