this week I've been focusing on finishing my final concept, unfortunately this took a lot longer than I expected as I didn't feel comfortable with the design into it was full polished out. Using silhouettes from last week I was able to flesh out my ideas and produce variation of colour studies and iterations as well as the final design; on reflection the process may have been a little overkill and I may have spent far too much time on small details which could have been ironed out in the end. I am happy with the end result I feel that this design captured exact the mood I was going for. Design aside I'm just generally happy with how my drawing ability has improved, from last year's digital painting compared to now I can notice a definite improvement in my ability which I'm sure is only going to improve throughout the year.
My favourite features of the design are the loose hanging wires and the computer installed into the back rigged up to a VCR, not only do I think this looks good design wise but I feel that this captures the general mood of what game world I want my assets to populate. I've given some thought as to how to incorporate Game-play elements within this design, for instance the little box next to the main body will act as a frenzy box in which if shot the turret will enter frenzy mode and fire around randomly at anyone in the immediate area including enemies.

Using the Team Fortress 2 ethos I tried to design my model with as strong silhouette as I could, in order to do this the design's main bodies are made up from basic shapes acting as blank spaces which should be easily identifiable and then scatter fine details amongst the areas, I was able to research this using classic 1970's bulky computers design, which will also prove helpful within the modelling stages.
